I’ve so excited to have three little paintings in The Hive’s Secret Art of Animators 3‘s side dish show, Saturday Morning Cartoons! I grew up on Nickelodeon, and Rocko has largely contributed to the weirdo I am today. Yay! Come out this Saturday for the opening!

“Unripe Yoshi” for QPop Bros vs. Bros art show
I’m super honored to have been invited to participate in QPop’s “Bros vs Bros” art show, focusing on Super Mario Bros and the Shaw Bros. Growing up on Nintendo, I couldn’t pass up making fan art of some favorite foes turning the tables on Mario! Leave it to a koopa to put an unripe Yoshi egg in a [?] block.
Animations for Six Flags’ Holiday in the Park
This year I had the pleasure of creating animations that were incorporated into the “Rockin’ Universe” light shows at Six Flags Magic Mountain! There are three 5-minute shows, which blink and flash over 42,000 lights across multiple buildings and a Christmas tree.
Lighting wizard Zach Moore did all the lighting design and programming for the three shows — he gets credit for making the whole thing come to life; I only supplied animation sequences. People really like it! I got all warm and fuzzy inside when everyone applauded at the end. It was quite a fun experience to animate on my computer and see it up across the buildings just a few minutes later!
This dazzling display is in the DC Universe of Six Flags Magic Mountain, should you decide to experience it alongside roller coasters 🙂
Pee-Wee’s Wallet
I’m super excited to be a part of Paging Mr. Herman: A Pee-Wee Herman Art Retrospective! On display from July 19-25th, 2014, the Nerdist showroom at Meltdown Comics will have a million, billion, trillion pieces of Pee-Wee inspired art! I recreated his wallet, complete with images and cards of his past. All illustrations were made with watercolor and markers, and the wallet’s cover was painted with acrylic. See you there!
Can We Be Happy Now
Can We Be Happy Now from Tahnee Gehm on Vimeo.
A man in a grey, drab world is awakened to the beauty and happiness of the real world around him, as the spirits of nature take him on an adventure.
This is my final film at CalArts, animated in TVPaint!
We Can Be Happy Now!
Can We Be Happy Now is going to screen at the Samuel H. Goldwyn Theatre for the 2012 Producers’ Show! This is all happening at 8 pm on the 9th– just got the sound mixed and tidied up some animation and color… I’m really excited to see it on the big screen! 😀 See you there!!!
CalArts Character Animation show 2012!
Soooo much amazing artwork! Such amazing friends! So many caricatures were drawn! The gallery opening last night was a blast and the art’s been lovely all week. Will definitely need to come next year (and the year after, and the year after that). This year I made 15 ink drawings on scrolls, which will be uploaded within the coming weeks 😀
Unlocked! Open Show! Saturday!
My second/official/hand-animated/shaded third-year film, Unlocked, will be screening this Saturday at the CalArts Open Show in the Main Gallery! Character Gallery Show 2011
The zoetrope is back! Big thanks to Dimitri for motorizing it!
This year I made a series of ink wash paintings called Hipsdurrs Across History, featuring two unintelligent hipsters escaping deadly fates a la Polaroid camera time machine.
