Hellllooooooo for the first time in what, almost a MONTH!??!! So sorry for the major lack in bloggage– I’ve been so incredibly busy here at CalArts that I haven’t had a moment to sit down, breathe, and pound out any blogs of the adventures, life drawings, and animations that by the time I’m finally through with my projects… classes start right up and I’m back to work again!
Anyway, had it not been for my dad wondering about my latest assignment in my Color and Design class, you wouldn’t be reading this now… well you ARE reading this now, but assuming you read it the very moment of my posting it– well, before I start rambling, scanning these in was a great excuse to finally blog 😀

CalArts Update
So CalArts pretty much does this:
IT ROCKS!
Blendshapes!
So I’ve heard so much about Maya’s Blendshapes animation deformer, but never actually tried it out before. Tonight I made a model in Zbrush, saved 3 facial “states” (static, pleased and amazed) and exported them as .obj’s, which I opened in Maya and put together using blend shapes. Not only can you seamlessly morph a chunk of polygons from one state to another, but you can even combine states! Here’s the result.

A few sketches, a few updates and a painting
That there’s my latest painting, which I’m glad that its subject matter turned out semi-obvious after all… A torn and folded paper lunch bag! Excitement!
