You have to get out and appreciate nature and its colors from time to time. As I was getting a ride back to school from the beach, I absorbed the colors of the sky, and let the telephone wires dance along as the car moved.

Harmony Sketches
I was checking out Kris’s blog and saw he had some really cool drawings done with Harmony Sketch. Thought I’d check it out for m’self, here’s what went down– it’s quite magical! Almost feels like I’m cheating by letting it do a lot of the work…. Still, the results are unique.

Attention

As artists, we can put infinite work and detail into tiny or large portions of the canvas. However, it’s the application of artistic knowledge that directs the attention of the viewer. In this example, the part with absolutely no work (a square left white) hogs all the attention, when all the work went into the colorful squares (which even have patterns of color theory, if you look carefully).

Ode to Portal

Painted this last year after a Portal-a-thon.
¿Que?

Drew this guy during sketchgroup last summer; last night decided to paint him with watercolors. I’ve got some watercolor uploads to catch up on, so stay tuned 🙂
Bunny with a Button

Guitar Synesthesia
Oooo here’s one I forgot to upload at the start of the semester– originally colored it for the Character Gallery Show. The orange stuff in the background is what electric guitars look like when I hear them. I’ll do more pieces on synesthesia this summer!

Pick your Poison

So the other day I went to the cafeteria for a cup of tea. “With Healthy Antioxidants” was the claim of my tea of choice.
Now, naturally people prefer to be healthy, even though they may choose to consume greasy bags of chips and the like.
But aren’t antioxidants healthy in the first place?
So why even MENTION that they’re healthy if it’s already a well-known fact?
Because of ADVERTISING!
So now I ask– if they’re advertising healthy drinks as being “healthy”, and if– in a hypothetical situation, there were two versions of the same poison (let’s say Arsenic)… One being slightly less lethal than the other, would it be advertised as “healthy” arsenic? Would people purchase it because it was “healthy”, even though Arsenic is a well-known poison?
Probably!
And that was the random thought of the day.
On another note, films are all turned in…. YAAAAAY relaxation!
