His knowledge could easily challenge          the cat&#8217;s power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"imginfo\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/4catworshipbig.jpg\" title=\"Cat Worship\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/4catworshipsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Cat Worship\" width=\"400\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a> The deity cat realizes this threat to his power, and          does not want a challenger to his rule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"imginfo\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/5transformationbig.jpg\" title=\"Transformation\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/5transformationsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Transformation\" width=\"400\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a> The cat realizes how important the wise man is to the          people, and decides to immortalize him into a form that will not threat          his own power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"imginfo\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/6sphinxbig.jpg\" title=\"Sphinx\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/tahnee.org\/art\/other\/egyptsilhouettes\/6sphinxsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Sphinx\" width=\"400\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a> And thus, the wise man became the sphinx.<\/p>\n<p class=\"imginfo\">This was a project for my Color and Design class. I started off with sketches, scanned them, then made black and white images in Photoshop that I printed and transferred to black Artagain paper. I then cut out the silhouettes (getting a LOT of Xacto knife practice in the process), then put these over papyrus paper.
