In the summer of 2009, Tahnee Gehm, a Character Animation student at CalArts, decided that buttons would be a fun new artistic medium to play with.

She then opened BrightEye Studios with the goal to share her artistic ideas and button designs.

1″ canvases proved to be a new challenge, as they’re so small– and yet the designs on them must be clear and consise. What if, wondered Tahnee– instead of having a single button to get across a point, a collection of five buttons or so would collaborate together to make a collective statement? And, as buttons are quite temporary, the wearer may design the placement of the pins however they want, adding their own creative output on the button set.

Always trying to think up fun new ideas, Tahnee would like to inform you that the proceeds of button purchases are going to the creative cause of her independent animated filmmaking.
